Description

This collections contains one scrapbook and several loose items, including newspaper clippings, notes, poetry, and a funeral notice.

Biographical/Historical Note

Not much is known about the origin of this scrapbook. In doing some research on the names associated with the scrapbook, it is believed that the creator and owner of the scrapbook was Apsa (or Apsie) Bransford of Lonoke, Lonoke County, Arkansas. She was born in approximately 1872, and graduated Lonoke High School in 1889. In 1892, she married James Gatewood of Lonoke. There is a good chance that the Bransfords appearing in the records named Askia, Apsie, Apsa, and Afsie, but all with very similar information, are probably the same person, with records suffering from transcription errors.
