Biographical/Historical Note
The Arkansas Nurses Association (ARNA) is the state nurses’ organization that speaks for professional nursing in the state. ARNA fosters high standards of nursing practice, promotes professional development, and advocates for the profession of nursing. ARNA collaborates with other healthcare providers to facilitate access to quality health care for the people of Arkansas. There are five defined purposes of the Arkansas Nurses Association: 1) Work for the improvement of health standards and the availability of health care services for all people in Arkansas, 2) Foster high standards in nursing, 3) Stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses and advance their economic and general welfare, 4) Serve as the organization for registered nurses of Arkansas, and 5) Advocate for the profession.
