This collection contains a fragment from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch featuring a color reproduction of a print made in 1860 of the steamboat race between the Natchez and the Eclipse from New Orleans to St. Louis.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Natchez and the Eclipse steamboats participated in a race on the Lower Mississippi River in 1854, with the Eclipse proving victorious.
