Description

This collection contains a ledger kept by William Ratcliffe and others. It contains notes, a ledger of rental accounts paid, expenditures for building supplies, and other miscellaneous notes. It has the names of William Ratcliffe, Jack Johnson, and Jack [Collsell] written in the front and back. It is unknown for which buildings the rental accounts and supplies were purchased.

Biographical/Historical Note

William Cummins Ratcliffe was born on March 12, 1839, in Arkansas County, Arkansas, to William and Mary Cummins Ratcliffe. He married Margaret Matilda Hanger in 1873 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. They had four children: Cummins, Matilda, Mary, and William. Ratcliffe was a lawyer in Little Rock for over 30 years. He also served throughout the Civil War in the "Capital City Guards," later a part of Company A, 6th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. He died on September 20, 1920.
