This collection contains material related to Ezra Valentine Lewis' military service, including certificates of honorable discharge, Selective Service registration cards, and photograph book from Camp Pike.

Biographical/Historical Note

Ezra Valentine Lewis was born on December 10, 1891, in Missouri, but later moved to Arkansas. In 1914, he married Elise R. Wall of Little Rock, Arkansas. During World War I, he was stationed at Camp Pike Cantonment in North Little Rock, where he served with the Medical Department. He was a registered pharmacist in Arkansas and Texas for fifty years, owning the Lewis Drug Store in Fort Worth, Texas. He was also a member of Julian Field Mosaic Lodge No. 908 and of Rosen Heights Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He died in the hospital in Fort Worth on June 20, 1979, survived by his wife, brother, and sister. He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
