This collection contains three copies of one broadside, "Jacksonville Centennial, 1870-1970: Historical Highlights." It includes brief descriptions of important descriptions of the city of Jacksonville.
Biographical/Historical Note
Jacksonville was established in 1870 when Nicholas Jackson sold a piece of land to the Cairo and Fulton Railroad on the condition that it establish a depot near his land. He first called the town Jackson, then Jackson Springs, then finally Jacksonville in 1872.
