This collection contains the correspondence of William E. Woodruff, Jr., as well as funeral notices and other material related to Woodruff family members.

Biographical/Historical Note

William E. Woodruff, Jr., was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on June 8, 1832, to William E. Woodruff Sr., and Jane Woodruff. He was a newspaper publisher and State Treasurer (1881-1890), and served as a Confederate artillery officer during the American Civil War. He chronicled his experiences in a 1903 book, "With the Light Guns."
