This collection contains an invitation to revival services at the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, Arkansas, on August 7-21, 1949. The invitation lists Rev. B.N. Simmons as evangelist and Rev. George H. Hink as pastor.
Biographical/Historical Note
First Baptist Church, Greenwood, Arkansas, was established around 1865. A small group began meeting at the courthouse on the town square, then moved to the Masonic Hall after it was erected in 1871. The first pastor was William Greenlee, who was also pastoring at Oak Bower (Lavaca). The congregation joined the Arkansas State Baptist Convention in 1870 and became part of the Dardanelle Association and the Concord Association. James C. Williamson became the first full-time pastor in 1904, and the cornerstone for a new church was laid in 1909. The church is still in existence today at 19 North Adair Street in Greenwood, Arkansas.
