Biographical/Historical Note

The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant was located in Jackson County, Missouri and was established in 1940 as a department of the Army. It was one of six facilities that manufactured small arms ammunition. The facility was operated by contractors, but was owned by the federal government. This collection holds one copy of the “Lake City Tracer.” The paper contains an article on General Douglas MacArthur and some of the men who served under him, and who then worked at the Lake City Ammunition Plant.
