Description

This collection contains a land patent for Joseph Lawrence Dickson, filed in the Fayetteville, Arkansas, Land Office on April 4, 1857. It also contains a letter stating that the annexed copy of the patent is true and literal exemplification from the record held in the Department of Interior, General Land Office.

Biographical/Historical Note

Joseph Lawrence Dickson was born on September 23, 1817 in Tennessee, to Ephraim D. Dickson and Catherine Thompson. He married Sarah McKisick on April 8, 1847 in Benton County, Arkansas. They had five known children: Charles Ephriam, Mary Catherine, Ruth Eliza, Joseph Lawrence, and James. Dickson died on October 6, 1868, in Washington County, Arkansas.
