This collection contains two folders of genealogical research on the Logan family of Pope and Logan County, Arkansas, including Colonel James Logan for whom the county of Logan was named. It includes copies of census records, articles, and other records related to the history of the family.
Biographical/Historical Note
This collection contains genealogical research on the Logan family of Pope and Logan County, Arkansas. Specifically, it covers research on the descendants of Jonathan and Francis Thurmond Logan, Alfred Jefferson Logan, and James and Minerva Logan. Jonathan Logan was an early American frontiersman. He was the uncle of Colonel James Logan, for whom Logan County was named. Jonathan Logan was the earliest of the Logan family to venture in the Arkansas territory. Along with his brothers Robert Allison and Charles, Jonathan settled his family in Pope County around 1815. The research in this collection was completed by genealogist Joan Carruthers, who is the great-great-great-grand-daughter of Colonel James Logan.
