This collection contains a notice to tax payers for Faulkner County, Arkansas, dated November 14, 1892.

Biographical/Historical Note

Faulkner County was established in 1873 and named for the composer of "The Arkansas Traveler," a popular song that shaped Arkansas' early identity. This certificate for the sale of land in Faulkner County in 1897 was drawn up by James R. Donnell on his custom letterhead which denotes him as a Grand Patron of the General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic appendant organization established in Richland, Mississippi, 1850.
