Description
This collection contains correspondence, receipts, and other documents related to the McCoppin and Showen families. It also contains two land documents from the 1800s believed to have been collected by Frank Showen.
Biographical/Historical Note
Frank Showen was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 22, 1910, to William and Mamie McCoppin Showen. In the 1930s and 1940s, he worked in clerical and management positions for the Pulaski Planning Board, the Agricultural Marketing Service, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He joined the Army on September 21, 1942. He returned from Europe due to illness and received a disability discharge from the Army in February 1944. Showen died on February 22, 1986.
