This collection contains two copies of a proclamation by governor John Pope on sale of public lands, Territory of Arkansas, dated May 7, 1833.
Biographical/Historical Note
John Pope (1770-1845) was a lawyer and U.S. Senator in Kentucky who served as the third territorial governor of the Arkansas Territory from 1829-1835. Pope County in Arkansas is named after him.
