This collection contains one letter of appointment for J.H. Haney as Engineer on construction of the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad by Josiah Caldwell.
Biographical/Historical Note
The Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad was originally organized in 1853, but not completed until around 1871. The railroad was eventually purchased by railroad magnate Jay Gould in 1887 and absorbed into the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Pacific Railroad, and ultimately into Missouri Pacific in 1906.
