Biographical/Historical Note

The Arkansas Louisiana and Gulf Railroad was chartered in 1906 to connect Monroe, Louisiana to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, though this goal would not be met. Fifty-six miles of track were laid from Monroe to Hamburg, Arkansas, and then to Crossett, as the railroad company was acquired and eventually reorganized into the Arkansas Louisiana and Mississippi Railroad Company, owned by Genesee and Wyoming, Inc..
