This collection contains one letter from Willie K. Hocker dated July 6, 1943, and one card for the presentation of a plaque donated to Arkansas History Commission by Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims in honor of Willie K. Hocker, dated July 7, 1992.
Biographical/Historical Note
Willie Kavanaugh Hocker was a schoolteacher at Wabbaseka who submitted a design for the Arkansas state flag in 1912. A modified version of this design was adopted in 1924 and remains in use to this day.
