Description
This collection contains a sale of land in Lee County by F.H. Govan, commissioner involved in the Lee County Circuit Court in Chancery of the case of W.C. Spears against J.H.B. Adams. Williams W. Smith served as solicitor.
Biographical/Historical Note
Lee County is located in the Arkansas Delta with its eastern border formed by the Mississippi River. It was established on April 17, 1873 during the Reconstruction era. It was named after General Robert E. Lee who served as General Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States in 1865. The county seat is Marianna.
