Description
This collection contains letters written between Ella Higgins and Sallie Stillwell between 1881 and 1891.
Biographical/Historical Note
Ella Higgins was born in Mississippi around 1866, to Isiah J. and Jane Higgins. The Higgins family moved several times and lived in Mineral (or Mineral Springs), Cascade Springs, and Arkansas County. While in Arkansas County, Ella met Sallie Stillwell, and the two became friends. They corresponded until both of them were approximately twenty-five years old. Both married in 1892, Ella to C.C. Tarver in Cleburne County on November 1st and Sallie to Abner Labon Huffman in Arkansas County on August 19th.
