Biographical/Historical Note
This collection contains a Special Order from Major General J.J. Reynolds of Little Rock, Arkansas, concerning Corporal August Suehlsdorf and Private Michael Wagner of Company G, 9th Wisconsin Infantry. The order states that the two were report "killed in action, April 2, 1864," but were actually taken as prisoners and returned after the expiration of their term of service and that of their company. The order also states that the Quartermasters' Department will provide transportation to the state of Wisconsin for the two officers.
