This collection consists of a letter written by A.H. Galard and an address to the Confederate General Assembly from 1862.
Biographical/Historical Note
Augustus Hill Garland (June 11, 1832-January 26, 1899) was a lawyer and Democratic politician. He served as the 11th Governor of Arkansas and the 38th Attorney General of the United States. He also served in both houses of the Congress of the Confederate States and the United States Senate. Garland County, Arkansas, was named after him, as well as Garland, Texas.
