This collection contains a program from the corner laying ceremonies for the First Unit of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church at Sixth and Izard Streets in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
The African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) was founded in Philadelphia. The first AME congregation in Arkansas was under the leadership of Reverend Nathan Warren. The first church was dedicated as the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1875 and was located at the corner of 9th Street and Broadway in Little Rock.
