This collection contains material relevant to Searcy County, Arkansas.

Biographical/Historical Note

The material in this collection pertains to Searcy County, Arkansas which was created in 1838 and named for Richard Searcy, a pioneer in Arkansas Territory. The first piece of material is a poem and explanatory material about the death of Benjamin F. Taylor, a captain in the Civil War who was killed acting as a deputy U.S. Marshall raiding a still. The second piece of material dated October of 1979 is William Skelton and Sarah Rebecca Baker Mays’ Family History by Armon T. Mays. The third piece of material dated 1911-1984 is a list of Searcy County Farm Agents and Home Demonstrations Agents.
