Biographical/Historical Note

William "Billy" Barnes was born in Jackson County, Arkansas, July 5, 1839. He enlisted as a private at Jacksonport, Arkansas, May 1, 1861. During the Civil War he served in Company G, First Arkansas Regiment. He died in Marianna on October 5, 1917.
