Description
This collection contains a 1928 Anti-Smith Democratic Pledge Card.
Biographical/Historical Note
Pledge cards circulated around Arkansas in 1928 seeking to persuade voters to switch their allegiance from the Democratic Party candidate Alfred Smith to the Republican Party candidate Herbert Hoover. These cards were seeking to do so on the basis that the Democratic Party was a "dry" party and Alfred Smith was a "wet" anti-Prohibition candidate.
