Biographical/Historical Note
On September 22, 1856, Samuel Kennedy, Sr. of Prairie County, Arkansas drew up this apprenticeship agreement for his son, Samuel J. Kennedy, Jr., age 18, with John D. Merrill to teach the younger Kennedy the "art of printing in all branches."
