Biographical/Historical Note
Merritt Ish Phillips (1863-1945) was born April 12 1863 in Madison County, Arkansas to George Woodward Phillips and Margaret Ann Long Phillips. Merritt Ish Phillips served as probate and county clerk in Madison County, Arkansas from 1896 to 1900. Phillips married Nancy Ann Rainey on November5, 1886. He died in 1945.
