Biographical/Historical Note

A group of prominent citizens and business from Memphis, Tennessee signed a petition titled, “To the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas”. This broadside is an appeal to the legislature of Arkansas to aid in the development of a railroad between Little Rock and Memphis. It reviews the merits of having a 'grand national highway’ system that befits the local communities in its path.
