This collection contains an address given by Lelia Gatewood to the Arkansas Pioneer Association on November 6, 1930.
Biographical/Historical Note
Leila Gatewood (1876-1946) was born in 1876 to Colonel J.E. Gatewood and Annie Richmond Gatewood. She spent her early years in Des Arc, Arkansas with her family and was educated at Arkansas Female College. She taught public school in Lonoke, Hot Springs, Nashville, Mount Ida, and Womble, Arkansas. In 1918, Leila and her family moved to Little Rock where she was active in church work, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Arkansas Pioneer Society. Leila Gatewood died April 2, 1946.
