This collection contains a letter dated July 28, 1898 from Otto Brandt to his Reichardt nieces in Arkansas regarding his service during the Spanish-American War.

Biographical/Historical Note

Eva Reichardt was oldest of Edward and Pauline Brandt Reichardt‘s four children. Born in 1873, Eva attended Galloway College in Searcy, Arkansas, and Vassar College in New York. She worked to organize chapters across Arkansas for the School Improvement Association, after which she went to work for the Arkansas Department of Public Instruction. Eva was also active in many women's clubs. Eva’s uncle Otto Brandt, served during the Spanish-American War, and sent many letters back to the Reichardt family.
