This collection contains the papers of John Park Cravens and consists of correspondence, research notes, and newspaper articles regarding his life and career between 1882 and 1962.
Biographical/Historical Note
John Park Cravens was born at Magazine, Arkansas to Robert Russell Cravens and Blanche Lane Connor on October 4, 1899. At the age of 18, Cravens became editor of the Magazine Gazette. He served as a private during World War I. Cravens was also a writer with an interest in Ozark and Arkansas folklore. His stories were published in many local newspapers and national magazines. Cravens served as a municipal judge for Southern Logan County and as justice of the peace. In 1957 Cravens and his wife Malinda Cravens were both elected as justices of the peace for Logan County, Arkansas. John Park Cravens died January 6, 1971.
