This collection contains the Capital City Anniversary committee papers between 1970-1972. The committee planned the 150th Capital City Anniversary of Little Rock, Arkansas, at the Arkansas State Capital.

Biographical/Historical Note

Little Rock's 150th Capital City Anniversary Celebration celebrated the transfer of the Arkansas State Capital from Arkansas Post to Little Rock. Charles Rixse served as the Executive Director of the Little Rock 150th Capital City Anniversary Celebration, Incorporated organized in November 1970. The committee planned various events culminated during the week of June 8-13, 1971. The Celebration was based on the legislative act moving the seat of government from Arkansas Post to Little Rock in June 1821.
