This collection contains one broadside notice of land for sale in Ouachita County by John Bell guardian of Mattie Farris.
Biographical/Historical Note
Mattie Farris was born on September 1, 1877 in Arkansas City, Arkansas to Anderson and Amanda Farris. Both Mattie’s parents died before she was thirteen years old, at which time she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Ida and John Bell. Bell received legal guardianship of Mattie on June 3, 1893 and by March of 1894 he placed land in Ouachita County, belonging to Mattie, up for sell. Mattie died on June 20, 1903 and is buried in the Farris Cemetery in Arkansas.
