This collection contains invoices and account records for John C. Luttig's "Adventure to White River" between 1814-1815.

Biographical/Historical Note

John C. Luttig was an immigrant to the United States. Luttig moved from Maryland to St. Louis, Missouri in 1809 and was soon employed by the Missouri Fur Company. Christian Wilt hired Luttig in 1813 with Luttig undertaking a trade expedition on the White River on Wilt’s behalf. Luttig’s base of operations was at Poke Bayou. Luttig was appointed a justice of the peace in just months prior to his death on July 19, 1815.
