Biographical/Historical Note

Simon P. Hughes served as Governor of Arkansas from 1885-1889. He later served on the Arkansas Supreme Court for 16 years before his death in 1906. D.W. Bizzell moved to Arkansas in 1849 and served with the Confederacy in the Civil War as Captain of the Third Arkansas Infantry. This letter from Governor Hughes to D.W. Bizzell concerned the National Agricultural Convention to be held at the New Orleans World Fair.
