This collection contains a letter written to Walter Henry Pemberton and financial statements issued to Walter Henry Pemberton.

Biographical/Historical Note

Walter Henry Pemberton was born in Lonoke County, Arkansas on May 31, 1857. He was educated at Bingham's Military Academy, Randolph Macon College and studied law at the University of Virginia. In 1878 he married Virginia Carroll. Pemberton inherited a plantation in Arkansas from his father and settled there after his marriage. Pemberton moved to Little Rock and began practicing law. From 1890 to 1896, he served as prosecuting attorney in Little Rock. He served two terms as a member of the Little Rock School Board, and also as president of the board. He died June 8, 1928.
