This collection contains the campaign card of J.W. Thompson for the March 29, 1902 primary election.

Biographical/Historical Note

James W. Thompson was born October 7, 1864 in Indiana. In 1884, Thompson moved to Washington County, Arkansas. He was elected representative from Washington County in 1903 and after serving one term was elected a state senator. Much of his education was informal and self-taught, but by the time he became a state representative he was beginning to study law. Near to the end of his first term in the senate, Thompson died suddenly on April 4, 1907 of measles.
