This collection contains a donation deed issued to William L.D. Williams, Prairie County, Arkansas.
Biographical/Historical Note
William L.D. Williams was born May 31, 1833, in York District, South Carolina, to Aaron Williams (1789-1861) and Elizabeth James Davis. The family moved to Arkansas in 1842. In 1850, William was a page for the Arkansas House of Representatives. In 1852, he served as the Assistant Secretary of State, and in 1854 was elected Secretary of State. William earned his law license in 1854. He died February 23,1860.
