Description

This Texas Act granted right-of-way in Texas to the Thirty-fifth Parallel Railroad Company. In 1870,the railroad company extended its railroad and telegraph lines into the north-western part of Texas, from Arkansas and Indian Territory. This collection contains a hand written copy of the Texas Act signed by James Newcomb, the Secretary of State for Texas from 1870-1874.

Biographical/Historical Note

In 1870, the Thirty-fifth Parallel Railroad Company extended its railroad and telegraph lines into the north-western part of Texas along the hundredth degree of longitude and the thirty-fifth parallel of latitude, from Arkansas and Indian Territory. The Thirty-fifth Parallel Railroad Company had an office in Little Rock, Arkansas, where this certified copy was stored.
