Mr. Laine appears in many of my favorite photographs in this collection. Picking just one was very difficult. However, I selected this one because it is also representative of a significant part of our history in the Delta. Agriculture, in all its many forms “from plantations to sharecropping to today's corporate farms" has been the backbone of the region's economy for more than a century. This image captures the essence of that beautifully. - Lisa Perry
