Description

This sepia postcard portrays a Frisco steam engine coming around a curve of the Spring River.

Biographical/Historical Note

In 1881, the Kansas City, Fort Scott, and Memphis Railroad line announced their intention to run the Springfield, MO to Memphis, TN track right by Mammoth Spring. It took several years, but by 1886 the track was completed. Much of the line followed the Spring River across Arkansas.
