Transcription

Batesville, Ark's.,
Dec. 14th 1872
Cleaveland, Engr.
Independence Co., Ark's.
Sir:
Believing your claims to having
been elected to the legislature on Nov-
ember 5th 1872, from this the fourth
Senatorial and representative district
is wrong; and also believing
with a fair count of the votes pulled
that I am elected, I hereby
give notice that I will contest
your claims to a seat in that body before
the next General Assembly which
meets in Little Rock Arkansas
on the first Monday in January
1873.
Very Respectfully
Steve. A. Hail
