Description

This is a campaign postcard for Hattie Caraway's re-election to the U.S. Senate.

Biographical/Historical Note

Hattie Caraway was the first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate. She was appointed to take over her late husband's term after his death and went on to win the next election as well. She served as a Senator from Arkansas from 1931 - 1945. Cravens was the editor and publisher of The Magazine Gazette newspaper and served as a justice of the peace in several towns.
