Biographical/Historical Note

This is an Airpilot Embury No. 2 kerosene lantern that was introduced by the Dietz company in 1936. The design was later revamped and may be the last item still produced by Dietz that was originally designed by Ruth Gerth and Joseph Sinel, two notable industrial designers.
