Request for exemption from military service from William C. Hale to Governor Harris Flanagin.


State of Arkansas
County of Pike
On this 7th day of March 1865 per-
sonally came and appeared before me Wm Kelley,
clerk of the Pike Circuit Court, W.C., who being
by me first duly sworn, deposes and says, that
he was 49 years of age on the 8th day of January
last (1865), according to the record of his age,
furnished him by his parents; and that he ver-
ily believes that said record is true: So help
him God

Sworn to and subscribed before me.
Witness my hand and the Seal of my
affixed, this 7th day of March A.D. 1865

I, Wm. J. Kelley, clerk of the circuit
court in and for the county of Pike in the State of
Arkansas do hereby certify I have this day examined
the Census Roll of the County of Pike, as the same now
remains on file in my office, taken in the year
1860, and find on said Census Roll, that the age
of the aforesaid W.C. Hale was given at 44 years.
In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set
my hand, and affixed the Seal of my Office,
on this 7th day of March, A.D. 1865
