Letter from Capt. Samuel McClain to Gov. Henry M. Rector requesting arms for the newly formed "Prairie Home Guards" to be ready to serve.

Prairie Landing, Ark. May 31, '61.
To his Exellency
Henry M. Rector,
Governor State of
Arkansas.
Sir,
the undersigned having
been elected Captain of the "Prairie Home
Guards" a company recently raised, would
respectfully suggest to your Exellency[sic] the
expedience of arming said Company, at an
early day as they are entirely without arms
and amunitions[sic]. This company numbers
62 rank & file, and will, when
properly armed, be an efficient home
guard, and respond, should the State of
Arkansas need their services at a mo-
ments call. The place of rendevous of
this company is 25 miles back of Prairie
Landing, on White River, where the arms,
if your Exellency[sic] sees proper to send them
may be shipped to the care of G.A. F(?)
