Biographical/Historical Note

Little Rock's Ninth Street was home to a thriving, black-owned commercial district. Some of the businesses included grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, barbers, and a theater. By the mid 20th century, Ninth Street had become the hub of African American social life in Little Rock, too.
