Description

Modern reprint of an older photograph of the Robert Crittenden Home, labeled as the Governor's Mansion. The walk to the house is flanked by trees.

Biographical/Historical Note

The house was constructed in the late 1820s to early 1830s. The site is now the location of the Albert Pike Hotel. The Territorial Legislature had been influenced by Crittenden to make the house state capitol, but Governor Pope vetoed the measure and the Old State House was built instead.
