Biographical/Historical Note

Roane lived from 1793 to 1852. He was a Major in the War of 1812; moved from Tennessee to Arkansas Post in 1817; Clerk of the first Territorial Legislature; designer of the Great Seal of Arkansas; president of the first State Senate; first Acting Governor of Arkansas; he was buried in Little Rock and had many descendants.

There are 8 copies of this image. The copy that was mounted on cardstock had been cut into two pieces at one point so that the text caption is detached from the image. The words on the back of the card have been partially cut off as a result
