This collection includes 237 Bible study cards, approximately 220 unique cards with the remainder duplicates, each containing one Sunday School lesson designed for children.
Bible study cards were long used as lesson supplements for children's Sunday School classes, particularly in Protestant churches. Each card presents a photograph to illustrate the event, scene, or person in the lesson, and includes a Bible verse and a simple explanation or story about the verse included. These cards were donated to Powhatan Historic State Park in Powhatan, Arkansas, by Louise Smith Parrish. They were later given to Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives by Arkansas State Parks as part of a larger donation of collections that originated in northeast Arkansas.
